Ohridis a city of North Macedonia.

To know

Ohrid is the largest holiday center in the North Macedonia. This is demonstrated by the numerous hotels lined up on the eastern shore of its lake up to the border with theAlbania. Many are of a higher category. Ohrid is also a city of art that appears on the list of World Heritage Sites of HumanityUNESCO.

How to orient yourself

The main access roads all lead to the streets of the center, perpendicular to the lake.

The old town is perfectly recognizable, as it is located on a hill. At its foot a pedestrian area includes what remains of the old bazaar.

The old town can be visited on foot. Along the coast an artificial promenade allows you to walk to the old fishing village of Kaneo.

  • Kaneo - Ancient fishermen's quarter at the foot of the hill where the old town stands. It is currently a tourist spot, with lakeside bars and restaurants.
  • Ancient bazaar (along via San Clemente di Ohrida) - It still has a couple of traditional stone buildings. There are also two mosques (that of Ali Pasha; under restoration in September 2017) and a centuries-old tree (Chinar tree).
