Omdurman - the largest city in Sudan (over 1.2 million inhabitants in 1993, 2.8 million on January 1, 2005). Located on the left bank of the White Nile, opposite the capital of the state, Khartoum. Connected with Khartoum and North Khartoum bridges, and together with them, it constitutes the industrial, commercial and cultural center of the state.
