East End is a city in West Flanders.
background
Ostend (ndl. Ostend, fr. Ostend) is a city on the Flemish North Sea coast with a rich history as a glamorous seaside resort. Unfortunately, due to the excessive construction of apartment blocks directly on the beach, there is not much left of this former flair.
getting there
By plane
The 1 Ostend-Bruges Airport(IATA: EAST) lies approx. 5 km west of the city, it is mainly used by holiday flyers. Other airports are in Brussels, Antwerp or Lille.
By train
The 2 Ostend railway station is the terminus of three hourly intercity lines. The train station is within walking distance of the beach, so Ostend is ideal for a trip to the sea by train.
In the street
If you are coming by car from Brussels, take the E30 motorway. From Antwerp, the A11 / N49 motorway is also recommended Maldegem and Knooke-Heist.
By boat
At the moment (winter 2015/16) there are no ferry connections to / from Ostend
On foot
The European long-distance hiking trail E9 offers the opportunity to reach the city on a long-distance hiking trail.
