The island Pangkor lies off the west coast Malaysia in the state Perak.
getting there
- Plane:Berjaya Air flies five times a week from Kuala Lumpur to the relatively new Pangkor airport.
- Ferry: You can get to Pangkor by ferry from Lumut out. Depending on the season and time, there is a connection every 15-30 minutes. A return ticket costs 10 RM. The ferry terminal in Lumut is just a 5-minute walk from the bus station.

The only means of public transport is the taxi. The prices are fixed and are usually adhered to. Directly at the ferry port there is a large board on which the prices for all destinations on the island are listed.
motorcycle
The most flexible means of transport is the motorcycle. You can rent one on almost every corner. In the off-season you shouldn't pay more than 30 RM per day.
Circumnavigating the island once takes 30-45 minutes. The roads are in good condition and traffic is relatively relaxed. However, in the north there are some steep mountains with sharp turns.
Tourist Attractions
- Pangkor Town: The main town on the island. Here you will find the ferry port, the taxi office and some shops, post offices, banks and restaurants.
- Kota Belanda (Dutch Fort): The restored remains of a fortress that the Dutch East India Company built there around 1680.
- Fu Lin Gong Temple: A very beautiful, colorful Chinese temple, including a small replica of the Great Wall of China.

- hike: There are some hiking trails through the jungle in the center of the island. It is essential to wear sturdy shoes and long trousers.
