By plane
Ipoh has its own airport - the 1 Sultan Azlan Shah Airport
(IATA: IPH). The currently only regular connection is with Singapore by the airline Firefly. There were and are various plans for the future of the airport. Due to its location in the urban area, there are no options for expansion. Initial plans included Seri Iskandar as the location for a new airport. Later other plans in the direction of Batang Padang came close Tapah.
By train
railway station, Jl. Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab. The station is in the west of the old town. South of the train station (Jl. Tun Abdul Razak / Jl. Panglima) is the local bus station with buses e.g. to Taiping and Kuala Kangsar. There is a taxi rank opposite the train station.
- Kuala Lumpur: The normal KTM trains run regularly from KL to Ipoh. The tickets cost (RM 12.00 / 22.00 - 2nd / 1st class). The ETS trains operate the route for RM 30.00 and take 2-3 hours. All trains start at KL Sentral station from 6:20 a.m. to around 9:00 p.m.
- Singapore, Penang, Bangkok: The city of Ipoh is on the international train route that connects Singapore with Bangkok. The trains stop in and around the city Butterworth.
