the Paklenica National Park is located in Dalmatia, near the coast. You can practice climbing, mountain biking, visit an ancient cave, a former Yugoslav bunker, observe many species of wild animals ... or simply take a walk. (Entrance 30 kn).
To go
The Paklenica National Park is located near the town of Starigrad-Paklenica, at 45 km of Zadar.
Circulate
The Park is accessible on foot from the nearest campsites, located on the road along the coast. Nevertheless, a good part of the asphalted path can be done by car, in order to save time and energy for the visit.
To see
- Manita Peć, the Cave of Fools. Situated at 550 meters from above, this cave makes 175 meters away long, and its age is estimated at 80,000 years. (Entrance visit 10 kn).
- Traditional mill.
- Bunkers dug by the Yugoslav army during the war. (Under construction, not yet open to the public).
- 212 species of birds have been rescued in the Park.
Do
- The Park offers many climbing tracks. The annual Big Wall Speed Climbing tournament takes place here.
- There are bike trails in and around the park.
Housing
- On the road leading to the park, you can find accommodation in camping with locals.
- There are several campsites along the main road leading to Starigrad-Paklenica. In particular the "National Park" Camp, open from April to October but easily full.
