Located in the northeast of South Korea, Seoraksan National Park has an area of 400 km2 and is known as the backbone of Korea. This park offers a lot of landscapes with its mountains, cliffs and waterfalls. There are several hiking trails, of different length and difficulty. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Buses 7, 7-1 and 7-2 from the town of Sokcho go to the national park. It is also possible to use a taxi from Sokcho town to Seoraksan.

Express buses leave from Gangnam Express Bus Terminal (in Seoul) to Sokcho every 30 min about.

There are two bus terminals at Sokcho (속초): Bus Terminal and Intercity Bus Terminal.

Located 860m above sea level, Gwongeumseong Fortress is near the southern entrance to Sinheungsa Temple. The fortress is named after two generals - Kwon and Kim - who are said to have erected the wall in one day to block the Mongol invasion (1253) during the Goryeo dynasty. The scenery from Gwongeumseong Fortress is considered to be one of the most beautiful.

  • Heundeulbawi rock  – (설악산 흔들 바위). One of the most famous attractions of Mount Seoraksan. It is a small round stone, sitting on a larger one. Regardless of the number of people pushing it, it oscillates only 1530 cm.
  • Ulsan Rock  – Ulsan is a set of six steep, rocky peaks rising 873 m above sea level, or approximately km of full circumference, and very difficult to climb. Their imposing stature made Ulsan the symbol of Seoraksan and Gangwon-do. Ulsan is sometimes compared to Ayers Rock, Australia.
  • Jujeongol Valley  – In the southern region of Seoraksan Osaek, the Jujeongol Valley is where the ancient yeopjeon coins were made during the Joseon Dynasty. As you would expect from a valley in which the national currency is produced, Jujeongol sits deep between high mountain ridges where the glorious colors of the fall foliage are considered by many to be the most beautiful in any mountain. from Seoraksan.   • Osaek Mineral Water and Osaek Hot Spring  – Osaek means five different flavors that can be tasted in this special water.
