Among the most renowned seaside resorts of Thailand, Patong has attracted vacationers from all over the world especially for the ease of procuring sexual relations even with members of their own sex. Celebrated in February, Patong's gay pride has gained worldwide acclaim.

At night Patong takes on a surreal and in some ways grotesque atmosphere that would not be displeased by directors such as Federico Fellini, Tinto Brass and Pedro Almodovar.

However, this is only a face of Patong: thanks to its beautiful seabed, the town also lends itself to scuba diving enthusiasts. It is possible to practice other sports such as sailing.

Patong is certainly not suitable for quiet types. The nights are usually sleepless and a jumble of clubs with dizzying music populates its streets.

How to orient yourself

Bangla Road (Soi Bangla) is the most famous street in Patong thanks to its night clubs outside of which naked girls try to attract the attention of Western tourists.
