background
Peggy’s Cove was officially founded in 1811. However, it is not certain where the place name comes from. Peggy’s Cove may be a modification of St. Margaret's Bay, but maybe also the memory of a young fisherwoman, the answer to this question is a subject with several variations. It is certain that several hundred thousand tourists visit this place every year and take photos of the small red and white lighthouse. Lobster season is in this region from the last Monday in November to May 31st. During this time the place is often overcrowded.

security

The coast and the vicinity of the lighthouse consists of granite cliffs that the sea has smoothed over the millennia. In dry weather, the stones are light and easy to grip, dark areas indicate water and a risk of slipping. Another source of danger are sudden large waves. It is advisable not to leave the clearly marked footpaths.
