Ulm-Lake Constance cycle path (also called Danube-Lake Constance cycle path or in German Radwanderweg Donau - Bodensee) is an itinerary that develops through the Baden-Württemberg until the Lake Constance passing along the Danube.

Introduction

This cycle path represents a valid tourist alternative and as a link between Ulm and the localities of Lake Constance. The route is well organized with adequate signage which allows for an easy walkability. The route presents some difficulties linked to the differences in height as you have to face 936 m of climbs with 984 m of descents.

  • Main path: Ulm - Laupheim - Unterschwarzach - Bad Waldsee - Wangen - Kressbronn on Lake Constance: 161 km
  • West route: Laupheim - Bad Saulgau - Immenstaad on Lake Constance: 160 km
  • East route: Unterschwarzach-Isny - Wangen: 70 km
  • Signage: available (blue signs with white cyclist and "Radwanderweg Donau - Bodensee").
  • Slopes: Upper Swabia is hilly; sometimes even long climbs have to be tackled.
  • Road conditions: mainly asphalted roads, partly also dirt roads wet by water.
  • Traffic: limited traffic backroads, crossing busy, moderately strong Wangen in and around Leutkirch, Isny ​​and Wangen.
  • Suitable bicycle: best touring bike.
