Pitești is a city of Romania located in the region of Muntenia.

To know

Pitești is one of the most industrialized cities in the Romania, being the center of the country's auto industry.

The Dacia SA plants are located in the center of Mioveni, just 15 km from Pitesti.

Several auto parts companies operate in the urban area of ​​Pitești: Dräxlmaier Group, Lear Corporation and Valeo.

The Arpechim oil refinery, part of the Petrom group, also operates in Pitești.

The refinery was founded during the communist regime as a state industry, and has been at the center of numerous controversies over the environmental pollution it generates.

  • 4 Gate of Heroes (Poarta Eroilor). Inaugurated on September 28, 1926, it is a war memorial from World War I, made in the form of a traditional triumphal arch in stone and with a tiled roof. The water, sucked by powerful pumps, reached the basins in the upper part of the structure, from where, through a labyrinth of canals with vegetation, it flowed slowly and purified itself.

Monastery of Curtea de Argeș
Arefu
After visiting the monuments of Curte de Argeș it is recommended to go up the DN7C national road, (Drumul Transfăgărășan) one of the most interesting roads from the landscape point of view of the Romania together with the nearby Prahova Valley. It meets the locality of 4 Arefu with the remains of a fortress that guarded the entrance to the gorges.
