Pitești is a city of Romania located in the region of Muntenia.
To know
Pitești is one of the most industrialized cities in the Romania, being the center of the country's auto industry.
The Dacia SA plants are located in the center of Mioveni, just 15 km from Pitesti.
Several auto parts companies operate in the urban area of Pitești: Dräxlmaier Group, Lear Corporation and Valeo.
The Arpechim oil refinery, part of the Petrom group, also operates in Pitești.
The refinery was founded during the communist regime as a state industry, and has been at the center of numerous controversies over the environmental pollution it generates.

The city has two stations, the south (main) station and another, called the north station.
- 1 Pitești Sud Station (Race Pitești Sud), Bulevardul Republicii Nr. 212, ☎ 40 788 036229.
- 2 North Station (Race de Nord), Calea Bascovului (Bus 19, 2, 7, 13, 5).
The main station of Pitești lies on the 901 railway Bucharest-Pitești-Craiova.
The north station of Pitesti is instead on the secondary line that ends at Curtea de Argeş.
From the marshalling yard in Golești in the neighboring town of Ștefănești, a line branches off to Câmpulung.
Most of the trains passing through the South Station run at intervals of 1 or 2 hours, from 04:00 to 20:00 in the directions Bucharest is Craiova.

Civil architectures
- 3 Town Hall (Primăria).
- 4 Gate of Heroes (Poarta Eroilor). Inaugurated on September 28, 1926, it is a war memorial from World War I, made in the form of a traditional triumphal arch in stone and with a tiled roof. Above the large vault you can read the inscription "For the country, for the glory and for the flag" while the names of the places where military operations took place in the years 1916-1917 and the names of the fallen are engraved on the pillars.
- 5 Pyramid of Prundu (Pyramid of Prundu). It is a former biological wastewater treatment plant.
- The water, sucked by powerful pumps, reached the basins in the upper part of the structure, from where, through a labyrinth of canals with vegetation, it flowed slowly and purified itself.
Religious architectures
- 6 Princely Church of San Giorgio (Biserica Domneascǎ Sfântul Gheorghe), Victoriei Street, 7, ☎ 40 722304072, @[email protected]. The oldest church in the city. It was built in 1656 by the Prince of Vallachia Constantin Șerban and his wife Doamna Bălașa. This monument has a distinctive architecture that reflects the refinement of the art of church building in Wallachia in the mid-17th century.
- 7 Good Friday Church (Biserica Sfânta Vineri), Strada Sfanta Vineri, 44, ☎ 40 740 081 785. Church of the early twentieth century that largely follows the style of the nearby monastery of Curtea de Argeş.
- The entrance has a portico with three arches supported by four columns with capitals in acanthus leaves. Mosaics to the right and left decorate the main entrance.
- 8 Mavrodolu Church (Biserica Mavrodolu).
- 9 Church of the Holy Trinity (Biserica Treime).

- 10 Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna Art Gallery (Galeria de Artă Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna). Art gallery set up in the spaces of the former town hall. More than 1,000 works by Romanian artists (Nicolae Grigorescu, Stefan Luchian, Pallady, Gh. Petraşcu and Nicholas Tonitza) are exhibited, mostly sculptures and paintings.

- 14 1907 Park (Parcul 1907).
- 15 Trivale Forest Park (Pădurea Trivale). The arrangement of the park began in 1900 under the command of the architect Edouard Redont. Ornamental trees were brought to Austria by Count Thedeus Graf Lubenschi.
- 16 Hermitage of Trivale (Schitul Trivale), Strada Trivale, 71, ☎ 40 248 272 343. A 17th century house on the hill of the Trivale park which, according to local legend, is populated by ghosts. In fact, it is said that a local girl betrayed her rich and elderly husband with a young servant on the very evening of the wedding. The following day the pair of lovers were tracked down to the hermitage in the Trivale forest and killed.

- 3 Curtea de Argeș - Medieval capital of Wallachia, Curtea de Argeș it is famous for the monastery whose church houses the remains of the representatives of the dynasty Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen who reigned over the Romania from 1866 to 1947.
- After visiting the monuments of Curte de Argeș it is recommended to go up the DN7C national road, (Drumul Transfăgărășan) one of the most interesting roads from the landscape point of view of the Romania together with the nearby Prahova Valley. It meets the locality of 4 Arefu with the remains of a fortress that guarded the entrance to the gorges.
- 5 Câmpulung - Capital of Wallachia before Curtea de Argeș, Câmpulung is a health resort in a side valley crossed by a tributary of the Argeș River. Also in this case it is possible to go up the valley up to Brașov passing through Bran where is the so-called castle of Dracula.
