Plantage

- 2 Hermitage, Amstel 51. It is the Dutch headquarters of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. The museum is located in the former Amstelhof, a classical-style building located on the banks of the Amstel river, whose original structure in 1682 was born as a retirement home and maintained this use until 2007, when the structure proved inadequate to meet modern needs. The structure was sold to the city of Amsterdam who entrusted it to the museum. Small exhibitions, starting from February 24, 2004, were initially set up in the adjacent Neerlandia building, until the main museum opened on June 19, 2009. The old site of the museum became the Hermitage for children. It is currently the largest satellite of the Hermitage Museum, with a total area of 12,846 m2 and fits in with the museum's plan to make its collections accessible to as many people as possible. The exhibition area consists of two large halls and smaller exhibition spaces. The facility also includes classrooms, offices, staff quarters and a restaurant.
