Pointe-aux-Outardes is located on the Manicouagan peninsula in the regional county municipality of Manicouagan on the North Coast to Quebec. The municipality includes three sectors: The bushes, Baie-Saint-Ludger and Pointe-aux-Outardes.
The economy of Pointe-aux-Outardes revolves mainly around the Les Bussoins research center which carries out work on potatoes and field berries as well as the Abitibi-Consolidated sawmill, Forests and Sawmills division, the largest in eastern Canada.
