Polis (which simply means city in Greek) is more of a village according to our circumstances, in the very north-west of the island and the republic Cyprus. There are beautiful landscapes around Polis, especially on the Akamas Peninsula in northwest Cyprus. There is the bath of Aphrodite, a pool in a rock niche.
getting there
Next Airport is Paphos, which can be reached after about 45 minutes by car. The larger airport of Larnaca is about 2 hours away by car.
With the automobile Polis can be reached via the Paphos road. A motorway (A7) from Paphos Airport to Polis is being planned.

Tourist Attractions
Polis has an originally preserved old town with small restaurants and shops. Also worth seeing is the old port in the neighboring town of Latchi with numerous fish taverns and water sports. If you are looking for long, quiet beaches with crystal clear water, you will also find it here.

From 1 Bath of Aphrodite There are two circular hiking trails (Adonis circular route and Aphroditer circular route) of 7 km each, approx. 3 hours, as they are quite mountainous. These are reasonably well signposted; But you should pay close attention to the signs, otherwise it is easy to get lost. Up on the mountains there are two more hiking trails (Smigiesrundweg and Pissouromouttirundweg); these are accessible from Neo Chorio (in German new village). The Smiegiesrundweg can also be reached via the Adonisrundweg. On the Smiegiesrundweg you pass a fire watch tower on a hilltop, from where you have a beautiful view all around.
Furthermore, you can hike along the east side of the peninsula to the Fontana Amorosa, and if you want to fight your way through bushes and herds of goats, even further to the end of the peninsula (and also from all of Cyprus).
If you drive from Polis in the opposite direction about 35 kilometers into the mountains, you come to the hiking area "Stavros tis Psokas", where there are also hiking trails (with mouflons).
