getting there

train: You can go up Arezzo travel with Trenitalia (Italian state railway company). In Arezzo you have to buy a ticket as it is a different railway company. For this reason, you cannot buy tickets to Poppi directly at other Italian train stations.

automobile: There are two variants.

  1. You drive from Florence on the motorway towards Rome as far as Arezzo, there you leave the motorway and drive towards Casentino via Rassina to Bibbiena. For this distance (approx. 40 km from the motorway exit) you have to calculate about 40 to 50 minutes.
  2. In Florence, take the A1 motorway towards Rome and get off the motorway at the Firenze Sud exit. On the access road to the motorway, exit at the Bagno a Ripoli sign. As soon as you find a sign for Pontassieve, drive in that direction until you come to a roundabout; drive towards Consuma - Bibbiena, Not into the village of Pontassieve. You then come to the road that leads over the Consuma pass. This pass road is very winding; you have to go up to 1060 meters and then of course down again, it is a more scenic route than the other one described above, but not suitable if you have passengers who are sensitive to bends and suffer from nausea. You save about 20 minutes in time.
