Pori (SwedishBjorneborg) is an old port and industrial town on the Kokemypenjoki River in southwestern Finland. Pori is among other things for his annual jazz festival, known with national, but also many international greats.

The city is now 20 kilometers from the open sea, since the land mass is geologically very young Finland constantly rises from the Baltic Sea in the course of the land uplift. Measurements have shown that the area still rises one meter in 100 years. Mostly after city fires, Pori has been relocated downstream several times over the years. Tourist Attractions
As in many other Finnish cities, the architecture is the creation of Carl Ludwig Engel. He also built the town hall from 1839 to 1841.
- Juselius mausoleum. The Juselius mausoleum, which contains frescoes by the Finnish painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela, is well worth a visit. It was founded in 1903 on behalf of the wealthy entrepreneur F.A. Juselius built for his daughter, who died at the age of eleven. The mausoleum is located at the main cemetery.Price: admission is free.

Pori Jazz
The island lies in the estuary in front of the city Kirjurinluoto, on which in July each year an international Jazz festival, the Pori Jazz, takes place. Pori Jazz has been held every summer since 1966 and attracts tens of thousands of fans to the town.
In 2009, 141,000 people attended the concerts for nine days. On the twelve stages occurred altogether 144 formations on, of it 64 Finnish groups. Total were 638 artists to see another 120 at the Pori Jazz Kids Festival. The audience, along with 400 international / national journalists, was made by 1100 volunteers supervised.

In the city center there are all the shopping opportunities that you would expect in a medium-sized city. The various options can be found around the pedestrian zone in Yrjönkatu. The department store Sokos offers a good selection, in the immediate vicinity there is a small shopping center "Isokarhu", in which some chain stores (H&M, Body Shop etc.) can be found.
On the way to the market place in Yrjönkatu is the market hall (Kaupahalli), in which food for daily needs can be bought at market stalls.
Supermarkets can only be reached by car. For the "German" taste there is a Lidl market on Paanakedonkatu, in Mikkola there is a large Prisma supermarket and in Tikkula there is a smaller S-Markt. For the forgetful there is an ABC market in Tikkula at the S-Markt, which is open 24 hours.
The opening times are between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. for the markets and between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
In the summer months and before Christmas, it is also open on Sundays between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m.
If opening times are indicated at the markets, then usually in this format: 9-21 9-18 (12-21). The first group is for Monday to Friday, the second for Saturday and the third for Sunday (if it is open then).

In the city around the market square there are some nice ways to spend the evenings.
What is the same in many pubs: you get your drinks yourself at the bar and pay for them straight away. At pubs where there is really something going on, there is often a bouncer at the door at the weekend, who does not filter by appearance, but only by age and degree of alcoholism.
