Port Augusta is the starting point of the Stuart Highways across the outback from Australia to Darwin. Together with the journey from Adelaide that is the Explorer's Way.

In addition, the National Highway 1that circles the whole of Australia through the city, that's the Princes Highway (to the east) and the Eyre Highway (to the west).
