Porto (region) lies in the Norte region in the north-west Portugal. The tourist region described here largely corresponds to the area of the administrative district of Porto, with the exception of Douro Valley. This travel guide delimits the Porto region,
- to the north by Rio Ave (here closes the tourist region Minho at),
- in the east through the border with the Vila Real district (here closes the tourist region Trás-os-Montes at),
- in the south by that Douro valley and the border with Aveiro and district
- to the west by the Atlantic coast.
