Natural values

The Międzychód County is one of the most attractive natural regions of Wielkopolska. Located in the western part of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, in the Poznań Lake District, its northern part enters the Gorzów Basin. The poviat and the areas to the west of it are referred to as the Międzychodzko-Sierakowski Lake District. It is a region with a rich relief, rich in forests covering 45% of the area and lakes (over 100 reservoirs, flooding about 5% of the area, which is why it is often called "the land of 100 lakes"). It flows through the center of the district Guard, south facing with some small tributaries.

Due to its natural aspects, its area has been covered by numerous forms of nature protection.

There are 7 nature reserves here, incl. ornithological "Herons of the Island" on Lake Kłosowskie, forest "Cegliniec", peat bog "Mszar on Lake Mnich", forest "Beeches on Lake Lutomskie", landscaped "Bukowy Ostrów". In the northern part, north of Worth it, there are vast forests of the Noteć Forest (Czarnków-Trzcianka poviat). More than a half of the poviat is covered by landscape parks: Sierakowski and the Pszczewski enclave.

The communes of Sieraków, Chrzypsko Wielkie and the northern part of the commune of Kwilcz lie within the Sieraków Landscape Park, which protects unique elements of postglacial relief Międzychodzko-Sierakowski Lake District.

The lakes of the Lakeland are very diverse: from gutter - long and narrow, such as Lake Lutomskie (173 ha, length 5.8 km, width 0.5 km), to oval, such as Lake Chrzypskie (304 ha, length 2 , 9 km, width: 2.2 km). Several lakes exceed the depth of 30 m. There are numerous natural monuments, viewpoints and 5 nature reserves in the park. On the other hand, the eastern-southern part of the Międzychód commune covers a small area of the Pszczewski Landscape Park, which mainly protects the natural values of the Kamionka Valley. The Noteć Forest. As a result, these communes are characterized by high forest cover (over 50%).

An important element of cognitive tourism are also the historic towns of the region - Sieraków and Międzychód.
