One of the main rivers Polish, the largest right tributary Odra River 808 km long, it flows in the western part of the Lodz voivodeship along a section of 215 km along its border or near the border, and then in Greater Poland Voivodeship.

The distance from the sources of the Warta to the place where it flows into the Odra is greater than that of the Odra from its sources to the same place. The length of the river flowing through the country, the Warta is the second longest river in Poland, right after Wisła.

It is the second, after the Vistula, river mentioned in Polish anthem: I will cross the Vistula, I will pass Worth.

The Warta River, creating a picturesque gorge valley called the "Great Warta Arch", is the hydrographic axis Wieluń County.

The Warta springs are located at Kraków-Częstochowa Upland in Kromołów, the former town, now attached to Zawiercia.

It flows through the tectonic depression of the Upper Warta along the edge of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. IN Częstochowa the river changes its direction to the east, to meet the Wieluń Upland outside the city (where it meets the Częstochowa Upland), breaking through it with a 70-meter-deep valley - this is the Mirów Warta Gorge. After defeating it, it gently turns north and in the vicinity of Radomsko to the west. Then it breaks through the Wieluń Upland again through the Działoszyński Warta Gorge to break through it a little further for the third time, overcoming the vast Załęczański Arch and briefly turning around 180 degrees (to the east). Between the city Guard and Skęczniew was created on it water reservoir "Jeziorsko". Finally leaving the highlands, it turns to the north, invariably up to the height of the city Wheelwhere it turns west passes Konin and flows into the Pradolina Warciańsko-Odrzańska]], thus ending its upper course.

Near Śrem Warta flows in The Poznań Gorge of the Warta River. After swimming through Poznanthe river hits the area Manure to an obstacle in the form of a higher area South Pomeranian Lake District and changes direction to the west again, influencing in Toruń-Eberswaldzka ice-marginal valley.

At the beginning of the downstream, in the village Santok its greatest tributary flows into the Warta - Noteć. After swimming through Gorzów Wielkopolski, Warta flows into the area where it was created Warta Mouth National Park, then w Kostrzyn on the Oder flows to Odra River.
