Drive

By plane

There is an international airport in Poznań, from which you can continue your journey by bus line 159 departing directly from the terminal's door (more details in the section Transport).

By train

Most of the municipalities near Poznań have smaller or larger railway stations and stops. Regional trains allow access from the Poznań Główny railway junction, to which there are direct trains from all over Poland, as well as from abroad. From the main station in Poznań, you can also go on a further journey with one of the many bus and tram stops nearby the station (more details in the section Transport).

By car

From the south and west, Poznań is surrounded by a bypass, which enables the exit not only towards the city, but also in the opposite direction - to the Poznań poviat. Basically, from any region of Poland, it is enough to go to Poznań, and then take the exit to the selected town from the poviat. The main roads running through the Poznań poviat are: A2 motorway, expressways S5 and S11, as well as national roads number 11, 32 and 92.

By bus

Many companies run direct bus connections to Poznań from virtually all major Polish cities. Long-distance buses stop near the main railway station in Poznań, from where you can go on a further journey by tram or public transport bus (more details in the section Transport).

Some towns of the Poznań poviat can also be reached by PKS buses from other nearby poviats (most of them stop in the poviat before entering Poznań itself).

By ship

It runs through the Poznań poviat (Warta) Great Loop of Wielkopolska - 688 km long inland navigation route. The nearest large marinas are in Śrem, Poznań and Oborniki.

Transport

Public transport in the Poznań poviat includes rail and bus connections. In various municipalities of the poviat, bus transport is organized by various carriers, but most of them cooperate with the Public Transport Authority in Poznań (these are MPK in Poznań, Rokbus Rokietnica, Translub Luboń, PUK Komorniki, Kombus Kórnik, ZKP Suchy Las, Transkom Czerwonak, TPBus Tarnowo Podgórne and ZK Kleszczewo). Thanks to this, it is enough to buy one ticket to travel on all lines of these carriers.

Prices and promotions

Regular, temporary ZTM tickets are quite expensive (up to 15 minutes - PLN 4, up to 45 minutes - PLN 6, up to 90 minutes - PLN 8), but there are many discounts, promotions and attractive tariffs, thanks to which traveling around Poznań becomes much cheaper.

PEKA card

When traveling to Poznań, you can apply for a PEKA card (Poznań Electronic Agglomeration Card), which gives the user many benefits, primarily the possibility of settling the bus (or tram) trip for the stops traveled, instead of the time shown on the ticket. PEKA also gives you the opportunity to take advantage of many promotions - up-to-date information on this subject is always available in ZTM vehicles, at stops and at ZTM website. The PEKA card is available in two variants: personal and "bearer".

  1. A "bearer" card - this card can be purchased at any Customer Service Point (its cost is PLN 27, of which PLN 15 is the amount of the initial card top-up, which can then be used to pay for journeys).
  2. Personal card - entitles you to even more discounts. You must apply for it (you can do it over the Internet), and in Poznań you should collect the card at one of the ZTM Customer Service Points (it is free). It can take a long time to get your card, so make sure to apply in advance. The already issued card will wait for the recipient at the Customer Service Point for up to 12 months. Caution - be careful not to lose the personalized PEKA card, because obtaining another one for the same person involves a fee (PLN 21).[1]

The ZTM Customer Service Point closest to the Main Railway Station is located at the Western Railway Station (these stations are adjacent to each other "platform to platform" and are connected by an aftermath passage).

Bus-Tram-Railway ticket

Travelers coming to the Poznań poviat for longer and intending to travel by rail and public transport may be interested in Bus-Tram-Rail tickets - accepted on PKP and Regio trains as well as ZTM buses and trams. Detailed information is available at Poznań railway stations and website. Tickets can be purchased at PKP ticket offices. When you buy a season ticket for a PEKA card, you also automatically get the possibility to travel by trains free of charge between the stations with the word "Poznań" in the name, and to the Kiekrz station.

Timetable

The always up-to-date timetable for all ZTM lines can be found on the website of ZTM Poznań. Travelers can also use the app myMPKwhich, apart from the timetable, also contains information about current delays and traffic disruptions.
