Praia do Forte is lying in brazilian State Bahia, around 55 km north of the international airport of Salvador da Bahia. It used to be an insider tip for beautiful beaches, cozy nightlife and nature conservation projects and now has an exemplary infrastructure.

Turtle in the TAMAR Research Station
- 1 Project Tamar, at the end of the village, just next to the lighthouse, in front of the reef. Price: Entry: 5 reais for the sea turtle theme park.
- 2 Garcia D'Avila Castle. The castle, in Portuguese Castelo, is around 5 km from the village center. Can be reached by taxi, bike or on foot.Price: Admission: to the museum and the castle 6 reais.
- Tropical architecture. Praia do Forte was strongly influenced by the German-born architect Klaus Peters. His most famous works are the well-known Ecosresort Tivoli, the Pousada Praia do Forte (unfortunately demolished today) and the beautiful Hotel Porto da Lua right on the beach.

- Whale watching. Every year between July and October, more whales cavort off the coast of Praia do Forte, after they were almost extinct in the last century. In the main season there are a few hundred whales just outside the village, and tours by boat or plane are offered.
