Puerto Plata, Official name San Felipe de Puerto Plata is the capital of the province of Puerto Plata in the region Cibao in the north of the country Dominican Republic.

background

The famous tourist resorts are close to the city Playa Dorada and Costa Dorada.

Playa Dorada is located on the north coast between Puerto Plata and Sosua, directly east of Puerto Platas city limits. This collection of over 15 hotels in a small space, grouped around a golf course, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Dominican Republic, along with Punta Cana and Juan Dolio. The guarded facility has a semicircular main road and access road, which is guarded at both ends, only hotel guests have access. In the east a river forms the natural and secure border.

The beach at Playa Dorada is golden-yellow, but the sand is not as fine as, for example, in Punta Cana.
