Puno is a city on Lake Titicacawhose football team has not been kicked out of the league for years because the team has always won home games despite a lack of footballing talent. That was simply because the other teams couldn't stand the thin air!
Puno has around 118,000 inhabitants, including more than 10,000 students, is located at an altitude of over 3,800 m and is the capital of the region of the same name.

By train from Cusco in about 10 hours. The journey through Puno to the train station is a bit strange for Central Europeans: you practically drive through a myriad of shops and small businesses. As soon as the train has passed, the crowd spills over the tracks again. Best seen from the last car.
