The Punta Cana lies in the east of the Dominican Republic.

From north to south are the following beaches in the Punta Cana region: Playa de Arena Gorda, Playa Bávaro, Playa Ubero Alto, Playa Macao, Playa de El Cortecito and then south of Cape Cabeza de Toro, Cabo Engaño, Punta Cana and Juanillo.

Punta Cana is located on the northeast tip of the island, 45 km from Higuey, on the Costa del Coco, the coconut coast. There you will find several “postcard beaches” over 50 kilometers to the north, where several large hotel groups have built their facilities since the 1970s. The Playa Bavaro joins in the northwest. The international airport is located between the two locations. You notice the location on the Atlantic Ocean and not on the warmer Caribbean Sea. The sea is rougher here, but it's also more fun. The sea is unsuitable for small children because it can be dangerous for them.
On the beautiful beach of Punta Cana there is now one hotel after the other. The hotel complexes are cordoned off, you have to pass a gate to get inside. The Punta Cana can be visited all year round. In the rainy season there can be short but heavy rain showers. These are usually over after a few minutes. The rainy season is from May to October. If you want to be on the safe side, go to Punta Cana outside of the hurricane season. The hurricane season runs from early June to late November.
