Characteristic

Plovdiv is situated in the western part of the Górnotracka Lowland, on the Marica River. The Rhodope Mountains, the main mountain range in this part of the country, rise not far from the city. Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria, right after Sofia - the capital of the state.

Drive

By plane

Plovdiv Airport is one of the largest in Bulgaria. Flights to it depart from many important European airports (including London, Belfast, Moscow and Amsterdam), so due to the lack of connections from Poland, it is not possible to fly directly to Plovdiv. Only a connecting flight is possible, in one of the previously mentioned ports

By train

The train station is located south of the city center. As Plovdiv is located in the center of Bulgaria, it is located on one of the main Bulgarian railway routes, between Varna and Burgasand Sofia. The trip to Sofia takes about three hours and takes you through the most beautiful part of the country, through the picturesque Rhodope Mountains and the Rila Mountains.

By car

The city is located on the highway from Sofia. In addition, there are many smaller roads, including road I-8 (Kostenets - Pazardzhik - Plovdiv - Haskovo), road 64 and road 56, connecting Plovdiv with Kazanlak.
