Bulgaria is situated in an area of ​​three climates:

  • temperate continental - the Danube Plain to the northern slopes of the Balkans
  • moderate transitional - central part of Bulgaria
  • Mediterranean Transitional - the southern part of Bulgaria.

Planes fly incl. from Poznań, Katowice, Kraków and Warsaw. Mainly to Sofia, frequent connections by low cost airlines to Varna and Burgas in the summer season.

The most popular routes are via Serbia (faster, most routes on highways) and Romania (slower but more scenic route).

In Bulgaria, there are vignettes for all vehicles traveling outside built-up areas. You can buy vignettes, among others at petrol stations and border crossings, they are stuck to the windshield.

By bus

Off-season, there are so-called buses. Touring, in Poland they are managed by the Orbis travel agency. Buses leave Warsaw once a week. They travel through Łódź, Katowice and Kraków. Then they pass through Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia.

There are more buses and connections in the season. If someone has an ISIC card, there is an additional discount.

Regions

Bulgaria is administratively divided into 28 regions. Their names are identical to their capitals.

Cities

According to 2011 data, there were over 250 cities in Bulgaria. The country's capital, Sofia, was the only city with over a million inhabitants; 6 cities with a population of 100,000 ÷ 338,000, 12 cities with a population of 50,000 ÷ 100,000, 17 cities with a population of 25,000 ÷ 50,000. and the rest of the cities below 25,000 residents.

In cities in Bulgaria, it is recommended to close the car door from the inside. Do not leave the car unattended, especially when there is luggage in the car. Tourists staying in hotels, private accommodation and camping sites should not leave money, valuables and documents, even for a short time.

State citizens European Union are treated on the basis of reciprocity. This means that visitors and even tourists have the same rights and obligations as Bulgarian citizens. The basis for obtaining help is the card EHIC.

Medical visits.
A visit to a state doctor costs about 10 levs, and 15 levs for a private one.

You should consider obtaining a separate, private insurance of medical costs, including transport to Poland. When concluding insurance, you should choose a company that does not require us to provide cash and return it after returning to the country, because we may not have such an amount.
