the Midi-Lemonnier district is a district of Pentagon which, itself, is the central district of city of brussels.
Understand
This district underwent continual upheavals throughout the 19th century.e century. It was first of all the construction of the first Brussels station bound for the south on the site of the current Place Rouppe and the tracks on the site of the current avenue de Stalingrad (hence its extraordinary width) then the vaulting of the Senne and the construction of boulevard Lemonnier and places Fontainas and Anneessens included in the development in Haussmannian style from the main boulevards of the center. Nowadays, many retail outlets are located along Boulevard Lemonnier, Avenue de Stalingrad and Rue du Midi. Place Rouppe, meanwhile, hosts theHoreca (including the restaurant Like home) where, in summer, it is good to sip a drink on a terrace.

- 2 Midi Palace Boulevard Maurice Lemonnier, 132 to 172 and avenue de Stalingrad, 37A to 73 (subways 343132518283, station "Lemonnier ») – This building was erected between 1875 and 1880 by the architect Wynand Janssens for the Compagnie Générale des Marchés, which wanted to stimulate commercial activity in this section of the boulevards in the center, considered less prestigious. Built in a very heavy and incoherent style with a somewhat absurd decorative profusion, it was described at the time as a "disastrous enterprise". Currently, if the shops on the ground floor still host as many small businesses, especially from theHoreca and tourism, the floors are occupied by several sports halls including the Yama Arashi Royal School of Martial Arts.
