Corner points of the route

  • Leipzig. In the north of Leipzig, the route partly leads through parks and residential areas. The signage is inadequate here, and the risk of getting lost is high.
  • Diving
  • Gottscheina. A former bus stop, now the "book stop", invites you to linger and exchange literature. Armchairs, sofas and bookshelves promise comfortable survival from downpours. The former Rundlingsdorf a little east of the route is worth seeing.
  • Wölkau. A castle (currently not to be visited from the inside; 9/2019) along with an extensive park and the church (tower ascent is sometimes possible) are worth seeing.
  • Bad Düben. It is advisable to look for alternative routes for the journey from Bad Düben to Wittenberg.
  • Düben Heath - the gentle ridge is crossed towards the Elbe. The signposted bike path mostly follows hiking trails that are definitely fun with a mountain bike due to their gradients and surface properties, the ride through the forest relaxes the senses, so they are not fully stressed to prevent falls. Anyone who wants to arrive will be slowed down here. Better to drive via Bad Schmiedeberg.
  • Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Elbe crossing. The city is worth a trip, numerous sights. Last chance to replenish food supplies, because afterwards it's "Pack something to eat, we're going to Brandenburg"! In the following villages there are mostly no more shops, the rare places to stop for refreshments are usually closed on Mondays.
  • Flaming - The ridge is "cycled over" in the area of the Lower Fläming.
  • Jueterbog - Connection to Flaming skate
  • Luckenwalde
  • Berlin. Access to Berlin is via Zossen - an extremely unpleasant stretch of the road. In the south of Berlin, the long-distance cycle path follows the Berlin Wall Path - which results in a large number of unnecessary detours over often unreasonable road surfaces. Better to look for your own route.

Note: If you are familiar with the route, remove the heading "Corner points of the route" and replace this section with a detailed route description with stages. It is best to simply work the place names into the stages. You can find instructions on how to do this here .

An example of a fully developed cycle route with stages is here to find.
