Renwez is a municipality in the department of Ardennes located about fifteen kilometers from its prefecture, Charleville-Mezieres, in France.
Understand
Story
The history of the town merges with that of Montcornet, a neighboring village a few kilometers away. Indeed, the first mentions of Renwez go back to XIIe century. The village was probably created following the clearing of the forest within the Montcornet domain.
Like all the towns and villages located on this border, Renwez had to pay a heavy price during the various invasions. Burned down at least twice during the Middle Ages, the town also had to undergo periods of occupation (in 1815, during the First and Second World Wars). Nowadays, Renwez is a peaceful village on the road to Revin, attracting over the years city dwellers aspiring to a country life, without being far from the advantages of a big city.

By train
There is no train station in Renwez. The nearest station is that of Charleville-Mezieres, allowing to join Lille, Sedan, Metz, Reims and Paris, these last two destinations being served by TGV.

Between 1,5 € and 3 €. – 3 lines allow you to reach Renwez: line B (Charleville - Revin), line 4 (Charleville - Rocroi) and line 23 (Charleville - Signy-le-Petit). During the summer, an additional fourth line is set up to join the Vieilles Forges lake from Charleville (a daily return trip)
By car
Of Charleville-Mezieres, take the N43, then at the exit of the town of Cliron, follow the D988. This same departmental allows you to reach the north of the department, by Revin, Fumay and Givet, located on the Franco-Belgian border.
The D22 allows you to reach Montcornet on one side, Bourg-Fidèle and Rocroi the other.
By 2017, the western section of the A34 will pass nearby, and will allow you to quickly reach Charleroi and Brussels. Currently, you have to borrow the N43 to Tremblois-les-Rocroi, then the N51 up to the Franco-Belgian border.
Circulate
Considering the size of the town, you will not encounter any traffic difficulties. Parking is free throughout the town, with the Place de l'Eglise being the place where you will find the most spaces.

free entry. – Notre-Dame Church is a church built for the first time in XIIe century and burned down in 1478. Of the first building, only the portal and the first bay of the nave remain. This portal became an interior portal, because another portal was designed in the XVe century. Most of the church was built during the XVIe century. - 5 Rocroi (or Rocroy) (By car, take the D22, direction “Bourg-Fidèle - Rocroi”.) – Rocroi, famous for its battle of 1643, its fortifications ... but also for its very fragrant goat cheese!
- 6 Revin (By car, take the D988 direction Revin) – Fourth largest town in the Ardennes, Revin, built inside two meanders of the Meuse, has had a glorious industrial past. But Revin also has assets to seduce the tourist: the Church of the Dominicans, the surprising Spanish House (it houses the Museum of Old Revin), and the Monument to the Executed of the Manises.
- 7 Fumay (By car: from Revin, take the D988 direction Fumay) – A small town which in its time was the national capital of slate (you can find the remains of old slate quarries in several places in the town) and which remains one of the most beautiful cities in the Meuse Valley. The walk is worth especially for its tree climbing park 1 Terraltitude
