The Rides (Italian Renon) is a high plateau that extends between the rivers Eisack and Talfer, north of Bozen in South-Tirol lies. Over 300 km of hiking trails and a fantastic view of the Dolomites make Renon a popular holiday destination.

The municipality of Ritten has its administrative seat in Klobenstein, it is part of the district community Salten-Schlern.
As early as the 17th century, the plateau of the Renon was used by the Bolzano citizens as a place to relax in order to exchange the oppressively hot Bolzano basin for the summer freshness during the summer months.
The term "summer vacation" is derived from the term - fresh - sumer term and is said to have arisen as early as the 16th century. The traditional summer retreat began on June 29th, Peter and Paul’s Day, when household items and laundry from the wealthy Bolzano families were stowed away and taken to the Renon summer residence.

getting there
By car
From the A 22 Brenner motorway via the Bozen-Nord exit at the entrance to Bozen, follow the signs for Renon.
The second access road up on the Renon branches in between Bolzano and Sarnthein(Sarentino) from road 508.
With the cable car
The Renon cable car (4560 meters long), valley station Rittenstrasse 12, connects the Renon plateau with Bolzano 950 meters below every 4 minutes. It runs on weekdays from 6:40 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. and on Sundays from 7:10 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. Travel time is 11 minutes and each cabin can accommodate 35 passengers. Single trip 5 euros.

- The Rittnerbahn runs from Maria Himmelfahrt via Oberbozen to Klobenstein, it is part of the tariff association with the Renon cable car.
- The Rittnerhorn cable car leads from {Poi | see | 46.5768 | 11.4462 | Pemmern}} Pemmern (1,530 m) to the Schwarzseespitze (2,070 m) and is the starting point for hikes there
Tourist Attractions
- The Renon earth pyramids can be found in three different places. The moraine clay, which is rock-hard when dry, turns into a loamy paste in combination with water and flows down to the valley. But if a stone is embedded, the underlying material remains dry and hard. This is how the pillars of the earth are created.
