Rhodes - city na Greek the island of the same name, lying on the northernmost tip of that island.
Characteristic
The city of Rhodes has a very rich history, due to its location and climate it was a desirable property on the Adriatic, over the centuries it was under Turkish, Greek and British rule, which results in an amazing mosaic of cultures and styles. This city is where most of the island's life takes place, there is an airport and most of the ports and monuments here, and 60% of the island's population lives there. This is where the famous Colossus of Rhodes was located, welcoming sailors to the port, although to this day scientists are arguing where exactly the monument stood.
Rhodes is unique because of its architecture, most of the buildings in the old town are from the Middle Ages and have survived intact to this day, and interestingly most of the buildings are inhabited. Tucked between the historic architecture are Orthodox and Muslim temples, which together create an excellent feast for architecture experts.

Rhodes International Airport (IATA: RHO) is located here, which serves regular connections mainly to Greece. In the summer, due to the large number of tourists, the airport mainly serves charter flights and several connections with the largest European cities.

Shopping
- One of the characteristic souvenirs of Rhodes are umbrellas produced by 2 local companies. It is quite a perverse gift because Rhodes belongs to very sunny places (over 300 sunny days a year) and the umbrella is rarely used here for protection against rain.
- While in Rhodes, it is worth buying sponges caught in the area, you can recognize them by their dirty yellow color. You should avoid buying sponges in large stores, usually they are imported from China, you can easily recognize them because they are very light and not as "fleshy" as the original sponges.
Gastronomy
Festivals, parties
- Rose Medieval Festival - the festival of medieval culture takes place in May near the palace of the great masters, parades, tournaments of knight fights and workshops are a permanent element, all surrounded by medieval buildings that add relism to the whole event.
- The Light and Sound Festival takes place in May in the city garden.
