background
There are some small wineries in the municipality.
It was first mentioned in a document in 1294. The city was only founded in 1318, Ludwig II of Savoy, who founded it next to the existing castle. The background was the creation of an antipole to the dominion of Mont-le-Grand, whose castle is in today's municipal area of Mont-sur-Rolle found. The rule of the Savoy ended in 1536 with the conquest by Bern. With the founding of the canton of Vaud, the municipality came to the same.
Until the end of 2007, Rolle is still the district capital of the Rolle district of the same name. From January 1st, 2008 Rolle will be part of the new large district of Nyon.
getting there
The Autobahn connection role the A1 is about 1 kilometer from the center. The main cup number 1 (Geneva-Lausanne) leads right through the center.
The Rolle station, is served by the regional express trains between Geneva and Lausanne.
Post bus lines begin at the train station Gland, Gimel and Aubonne.
There is also a jetty for scheduled boats on Lake Geneva.
