Ruse (also transliterated as Rousse or Russe, Bulgarian: Русе pronounced [rusɛ]) is the fifth largest city in Bulgaria. Ruse is located in the northeast of the country, on the right bank of the Danube, opposite the Romanian city Giurgiu, a distance of 300 km from Sofia and 200 km from the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. It is Bulgaria's most important river port, serving an important part of the country's international trade. Ruse is known for its Neo-Baroque and Neo-Rococo styles of the 19th and 20th centuries, attracting many tourists. . It is commonly known as the Little Pellet. Ruse-Giurgiu Friendship Bridge, a bridge over the Danube River connecting Bulgaria and Romania in this city.
