Road sign indicating the tourist route of the Whales

The Whale Route runs along the estuary and the Gulf of St.Lawrence on their north shore in the regions of Manicouagan and of Duplessis on the North Coast. She starts to Tadoussac west and head northeast to Blanc-Sablon, a journey of 1 250 km. There are 13 different species of whales that live in the waters of the St. Lawrence, including the blue whale. Observation trips at sea are organized all along the route whether by boat, rubber dinghy or kayak. It is also possible to watch whales from the shore.

On the mainland, the region along the Whale Route offers large natural spaces dotted with lakes and rivers where it is possible to observe wild flora and fauna.

Ferries connect to the south shore of the St.Lawrence to reach the regions of the Gaspesie and Bas-Saint-Laurent.
