trips

On the road to Döbeln there is with the Troischaufelsen a unique geological outcrop. The protected rock consists of gabbro, which is rare in the region. Until the construction of Döbelner Strasse around 1860, silver and copper were still mined in a tunnel at this point. Other destinations in the area are:

  • Chub (10 km northwest) - Döbeln is the largest town in the central Saxon hill country and has two marketplaces and a horse-drawn tram. You can drive north via Hasslau, but the more beautiful path leads in the Muldental via Niederstriegis and is no further. Behind the Ortrausgang is also the mentioned Troischaufelsen and the literary part of the GDR children's book "From the horse that drove the car“By Waldemar Spender, where the stallion Lotte got off the curve and landed on an apple tree.
  • Nossen (11 km east) - The mistress of Augustus the Strong, Countess Cosel, was briefly arrested at the castle. Events with steam locomotives take place at irregular intervals in the station area. Shortly before Nossen you come through the Zellwald, where the Altzella monastery is located.
  • Hainichen (15 km south) - largest town in the Altzella monastery district; Located on the Kleine Striegis, a tributary of the Freiberg Mulde. Birth town of the poet and philosopher Christian Fürchtegott Gellert.
  • Waldheim (15 km to the west) - worth seeing Art Nouveau town hall directly on the Zschopau; nearby Kriebstein Castle.
