Ruovesi is a community in Western Finland and part of the Pirkanmaa region. It is located about 80 kilometers north of Tampere, on Lake Ruovesi of the same name, part of the Näsijärvi-Sea system is. The population only speaks Finnish as their mother tongue.

In Ruovesi there is a landing stage for the poet's path Tampere and Virrat. The boat connection on the Dichterweg is not the cheapest way to get to Tampere at € 32, but it is definitely worth an experience. There is no railway line, but there are regular bus connections from Virrat, Tampere and even from Helsinki.

The "Pirkan Taiwal" hiking trail begins at the Haapasaari Holiday Village. From here it leads to the Helvetinjärvi National Park, 8 km away, and is marked with red signposts. Sturdy shoes are recommended for this hiking trail. Tents, fire pits and shelters are available.

The national park can also be reached from Ruovesi via a road. This ends at a large parking lot with a kiosk. From there, the walk to Helvetinjärvi is very short and, in contrast to the "Pirkan Taiwal", easy to walk.
