background
The Ruwer is a right-hand tributary of the Moselle and largely accompanies the cycle path. It is therefore not wrong to also speak of a river cycle path. The eponymous high forest, part of the Hunsrück, ensures a wealth of trees along the route. On hot days in particular, it is significantly cooler than in the Moselle valley.
