Sainte-Foy-la-Grande is a city of Gironde.

Understand

Story

The bastide of Sainte Foy la Grande, was founded in 1255 by Alfonse de Poitiers, brother of Saint Louis, in conjunction with the abbey of Sainte Foy de Conques. Its original vocation is to be a city-refuge, a border town, both military and commercial. The city obtains its charter of customs the following year.

One of the hundred most beautiful markets in France

The Sainte Foy la Grande market is truly exceptional. It takes place every Saturday morning, all year round. The entire center of the bastide town is closed to car traffic to make room for stalls. There are many regional products and still a few small exhibitors whose production comes directly from the garden (it is increasingly rare but they are still present). There are sometimes too many people in the middle of summer, the ideal being to go there in June or September.

The reception under old beams is very large and many documents are made available to customers. Finally, a very friendly and competent team provides a lot of advice.

Housing

The Pays Foyen offers a large number of accommodation possibilities (except perhaps for groups). There are several hotels in Sainte Foy la Grande but which are relatively old apart from the Boule d'Or which offers good value for money with ease.

It is very interesting to choose the guest rooms which are of very good quality in the area. TO 7 km from Sainte Foy la Grande, you will find a small haven of peace in the village of Eynesse at the Gîtes de France "Au Grand Renom" guest rooms [ http://www.augrandrenom.com]
