1 Sakon Nakhon Regional Airport (ท่าอากาศยาน สกลนคร, IATA: SNO). to reach. It is located about twelve kilometers northeast of the city center of Sakon Nakhon, in the immediate vicinity of Lake Nong Han. There are currently connections with NokAir and Air Asia from Don Mueang Airport (DMK). The flight time is usually 1 hour 10 minutes. - Wat Phra That Choeng Chum, located directly in the city
- Wat Pa Udom Somphon, a "forest temple" with a memorial for the monk Phra Achan Fan Acharo, who worked here - 40 kilometers west of Sakon Nakhon on national road 22 (towards Udon Thani)
- Nong Han - the lake north of the city
- Nong Han Chaloem Phra Kiat Park. The local branch of Kasetsart University operates a center for breeding and researching aquatic plants on the northwest bank of the Nong Han (just under 20 km outside the city). Here visitors can also admire the colorful lotus and water lily ponds. Another part of the park is an alligator enclosure.

- Wax castle festival. To Ok Phansa (End of the Buddhist monks' retreat) in October. Traditionally, the believers in Isan give the monks beeswax at the end of their retreat. In Sakon Nakhon, this has led to the custom of carving elaborate castles from the wax. There is also a big festival with a procession, a competition for the most beautiful wax castle, performances of local culture and music. During the same period there will be a longboat race on Lake Nong Han.
