Saluzzo is a Italian Small town in Piedmont. It lies at the foot of the Western Alps between Turin and Cuneo, where the Po flows from the Valle del Po into the plain.

By train

When arriving by train from Turin and Cuneo, you usually have to be in Savigliano change. From Savigliano there is a train every 2 hours to the 1 railway station from Saluzzo. This is located on the edge of the center on Corso Roma. There are also good intercity bus connections.

By bus

In the street

By car, on the main road 20 in the middle between Turin and Cuneo at the height Bra, one leaves this direction to the western Alps. In this section the A8 runs a little east of it (exit Bra).

As the old town is largely car-free, it is best to explore it on foot. There is a free car park in Piazza Castello above the old town. This can be reached via the Via Panoramica. There is also parking behind the cathedral in Piazza Garibaldi, but this is chargeable.

Tourist Attractions

The whole, car-free old town (upper town) is worth seeing.

  • 1 Marie Assunta Cathedral, located in the lower town (Neustadt). Completed in 1501, the bell tower was not added until the 18th century. Opening times: daily 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • The Gothic 2 Church of San Giovanni, with the adjacent cloister in the Convent of San Giovanni. Opening times: daily 8 am-12pm and 3 pm-7pm
  • The 3 Casa Cavassa, is an aristocratic palace from the Renaissance. It is in him Museo Civico housed. Via San Giovanni 5, Tel. 0175/41455 Museum opening times.   • The house where the poet was born 4 Silvio Pellico Located on Via a Volta, it also houses a museum.

The approximately 7 kilometer long hiking trail from Saluzzo to Manta takes around 2 hours to walk. As a circular route with return via the little-used side road approx. 9 km.

Saluzzo is a center of cabinet making and furniture restoration workshops, so it has many such shops. A large antiques fair takes place here every year in September, as well as two smaller ones every year.

The market always takes place on Wednesdays around Piazza Risorgiomente and the subsequent Corso Italia.
