The salt flat is a small tributary of the Lahn in central Hesse. You can take a small day tour along its course.

getting there

Public transportation

With the regional train to Friedelhausen on the Frankfurt - Gießen - Marburg -Kassel railway line (Salzböde-Radweg upwards).

From May 1st to September 30th, the leisure bus "Blue Line" (with bicycle trailer) runs from Herborn (train station) to Bad Endbach on weekends and public holidays. There you have easy access to the Salzböde cycle path (downwards). The journey from Marburg with the overland bus 383 to Bad Endbach is currently not recommended due to a lack of bike racks.

In the street

  • via the B3 Gießen - Marburg. For a day tour, it is a good idea to drive the car in Lollar, Friedelhausen or also Staufenberg to park.

Corner points of the route

The Salzböde cycle path branches off at Odenhausen (approx. 5 km north of Lollar) Lahn valley cycle path from.

From approx. 160 m on the Lahn, the route climbs up to the Salzbödequelle to approx. 430 m. This is above Hartenrod, that too Bad Endbach belongs. The route still crosses en route Lohra and Gladenbach .

Worth seeing is next to the beautiful Low mountain range i.a. the Natural History House Damm at Lohra.

Connection: From the Salzböde spring you can roll down the Aartal to Herborn after a climb to Günterod. There is a rail connection to the main line here Wins - Wetzlar - to water.
