Santa Rosa is the capital of the La Pampa province in Argentina.

Context

April 22, 1892 is the day of the foundation for the small town. Don Tomas Mason pronounced some allusive words in the center of the paddock destined for the plaza. The foundations of the future municipal building were dug and then there were cheers and cheers, thunder bombs and the distribution of silk scarves in the colors of the Homeland. The party ended with a barbecue with leather, biscuit and wine.

Santa Rosa del Toay, a year after its foundation, housed around 800 inhabitants and had a school for girls and boys, the first teacher being Miss Enriqueta Schmidt. Elections were already taking place in the Deliberative Council (called at that time Municipal Council). In 1894 the current Police Institution was inaugurated, and on August 30, 1895 it was followed by the Church of Santa Rosa de Toay.

In 1900, the Governor Dr. José Luro during his government, transferred the capital of the territory from General Acha to Santa Rosa del Toay.

One year after the establishment of the Coto de Caza, by Dr. Pedro O. Luro (1903), the P.E.N. it decreed that Santa Rosa del Toay, became definitely the capital of the National Territory of La Pampa Central.
