Santa Vitória do Palmar is a city in the southeast of Rio Grande do Sul.

Santa Vitória do Palmar has 31 352 inhabitants and an area of 5,244 km². The city is surrounded by two important lakes in the state, Lagoa Mirim and Lagoa Mangueira, in addition to other smaller lakes. It is one of the main rice producers in the state.
The municipality was known as the southernmost place in Brazil, but it lost this title after the emancipation of Chuí, on December 28, 1995.

Several species of living beings in the region live in the season, including animals and plants that are threatened with extinction. At the station's headquarters there is a museum that tells the station's history and presents the region's main animals, plants and ecosystems.
