Santos Dumont It is a city Brazilian located in Minas Gerais, in the mesoregion of Wood zone, and in the Microregion of Juiz de Fora.

It is a city very rich in cultural manifestations and tourist points, mainly in natural beauties, being part of the Estrada Real tourist circuit. One of the main events on its calendar are the city's birthday (27th July) and the feast of the patron saint São Miguel (29th September).

Understand

The city is the birthplace of the inventor Alberto Santos Dumont, being named after him (on July 27, 1889) a few weeks after his death. It was inaugurated by João Gomes, initially under the name of Arraial de João Gomes, which later on, rising to the level of a city, received the name of Palmira. João was the father of the inconfident José Aires Gomes.
