sardinia (Sardegna / Sardigna) is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, among the Balearic Islands, a italian peninsula and south of Corsica. It is currently an autonomous region of Italy.
Sardinia, with its Mediterranean beauty is mainly appreciated for swimming, canoeing, windsurfing, hiking, climbing and camping, with its coastal areas tending to become more "crowded" especially in the hottest month, August. Life in the interior of the island, away from the tourist spots, takes longer to appreciate and requires you to "peel off" the layers of apparent Italianization.
