Soap itale Savona is itala a city in the region Liguria, on the shores of the Ligurian Sea. It is the administrative and cultural center of the same name province of Savona.

Understand

Savona has a large harbor, which is an important berth for ferries towards Corsica. The inhabitants of Savona work mainly in industry.

The neighboring towns are Albissola Marina, Albisola Superiore, Altar, Cairo Montenotte, Quiliano and Vado Ligure.

History

The first traces of the town date back to the Middle Bronze Age, when a first settlement was built on the Priamar hill. Ancient center of the Sabazi Ligurians, the city was an ally of Carthage during the Second Punic War, against Rome already an ally of Genoa. Rome finally subdued Savona around 180.

Climate

The climate is temperate, of Mediterranean type, but with beginning of continental influences in the hinterland.

Summer is moderately hot and rarely suffocating. During the winter, periods with sunny days and not very low temperatures alternate when Liguria is protected from the Azores countercyclone with others more rigid when low pressures form on the Gulf of Genoa. This causes strong northerly winds and sometimes snowfall as far as the coast. In these cases Savona is one of the coldest places on all the Ligurian Coast.

As soon as the effects of the north wind cease, the warm winds of the deep Ligurian sea return, and in Savona the temperature rises to more moderate values. The weather is mild for much of the summer and spring
