Schirmeck is a french City in the department Bas-Rhin, in the Alsace.
background
Politically, the town belongs to the arrondissement of Molsheim and is the administrative capital of the canton Schirmeck.
The town is the tourist and economic center of the Bruche (Breusch) valley. It is located at the foot of the Col du Donon, which rises northwest of the village.

To the east of the village rises the ruins of the old one, renovated in 1969 Castle (Châteuax). From the car park behind the church, it is a 10-minute walk to the castle, where a museum with a folklore collection has been set up in a preserved tower.

- Le Struthof. The concentration camp memorial at the location of the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration and security camp. From Schirmeck on the road towards Barr, the former Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp is around 5 kilometers to the left of the road.
