Schönau in the Black Forest is a city in Southern Black Forest in the Wiesental.
background
To the year 1113 AD. the oldest written certification of this place goes back. At that time, the region was still part of Upper Austria. Schönau has been in Baden's territory since 1805 and was named a town four years later. This was changed in the meantime in 1936, but restored in 1950.
Schönau is the seat of the community administration association of the same name, to which the small communities Böllen, Tunau, Wembach and Schönenberg belong.
