Zell im Wiesental is a small town in the southwest of Baden-Wuerttemberg, she lies in Wiesental.
background
The town of Zell was first mentioned in a document in 1275. It was owned by the Säckingen Abbey for a long time, then came to Upper Austria and became Baden in 1806, and in 1810 Zell received city rights. At that time, several textile companies had already settled in Zell and the surrounding area. After the Wiesentalbahn was opened in 1876, other industrial companies settled there. In 1889 the narrow-gauge railway went Todtnauerli to Todtnau in operation.
After the Second World War, the textile industry collapsed, and so did that Todtnauerli was finally discontinued in 1967. There is now a railway cycle path on the old route.
In the course of the regional reform, the formerly independent communities of Adelsberg, Atzenbach, Gresgen, Mambach, Pfaffenberg and Riedichen were incorporated into the district from 1972-1975.
Neighboring communities of Zell are Happy, Häg-Ehrsberg, Schopfheim, Hausen and Small meadow valley.
